When a hydraulic system becomes contaminated with water, metal and/or dirt particles and other foreign debris; it is 
nearly impossible to completely remove all contamination from the entire system without total disassembly and cleaning.  
Water is one of the primary killers of a hydraulic oil system!  Water will do two things that are very bad:  emulsification and 
thickening of the oil both of which reduce its effectiveness and lubricating capabilities.

It is not unusual when an oil and filter change is performed on a hydraulic system that between 1/3 and 1/2 of the system's 
total contaminated oil still remains in the system along with all of the sludge and debris in the  reservoir. Therefore, only 
between 1/2 and 1/3 of the oil is actually replaced with new oil when doing an oil change on a hydraulic system!  This 
means when you do your normal oil changes, all of the sludge and debris is dissolved, suspended and placed  back into 
the oil which is then distributed to all of the systems' component parts making the new hydraulic oil you just placed in the 
system immediately dirty again!

This type of service, coupled with the general lack of timely maintenance on most hydraulic systems and transmissions, 
renders the "typical oil and filter change" ineffective in reducing system component wear and failure. Oil analysis and actual
